Ireland’s Future to host event with key Trade Unionists

Ireland’s Future will host an event in Newry this coming Saturday 11th January, with key members of the Trade Union movement from across the island.

The event comes following a similar engagement with members of the business community, held in mid-December in Belfast.

Ireland’s Future also met with leading political figures from a range of parties across the island in early December and has also engaged with representatives of the British Government in recent weeks.

The secretary of Ireland’s Future Niall Murphy said, “This latest initiative with the Trade Unions is reflective of the level of engagement our organisation has undertaken in the recent past. We seek to continue to inform, educate and stimulate the conversation on constitutional change in the years preceding a referendum. The pace of change has quickened and we are firmly of a belief that a referendum will take place around the year 2030. Therefore it is incumbent upon the political administrations in Dublin, Belfast and London to prepare, and it is also imperative that civil society, including the Trade Union movement, recognises the constitutional space we are now entering.”

The event will take place in the Thomas Davis Hub, Doran’s Hill, Newry on Saturday 11th January from 11am until 1pm and those interested should register at the following link to attend. We particularly wish to welcome members of Trade Union organisations from all backgrounds.
